365 Reasons to Smile – Day 97

lifes not fairSome days, I get really angry about how unfair life is. Bad things happen to good people, and no matter how hard we try, we can’t understand why. Life’s not fair.

Those of us who are parents often repeat that mantra. At the same time, we have our own questions.

I’m blessed that my own mother provided amazing guidance.

She’s never been a particularly religious person, but she has always been spiritual.  As a child, when I was struggling with not getting something I thought I deserved, she provided a great piece of advice.

“Don’t ever pray for what you want. Pray that God gives you the strength to deal with what life hands you and the ability to use that strength to make the best of the situation.”

Decades later, the wisdom of those words resonates in so many aspects of my life.

And that always makes me smile.
